I read the short story
The Ghost of Barnaby Lane in which the author introduces several new creatures. Almost mutants if you asked me. There were werewolves that no longer needed to change, spirits that lived within lakes, and some banshees that could read the mind.
However, my favorite was the little girl vampire who drank souls instead of blood. She can fly like Dracula, read minds, and is invincible to all known weapons. She wreaks vengeance only on cruel persons and likes to frighten folk rather than hurt them.
She makes fun of all that. However, when her family is threatened by the swamp banshee, the mother steps in and reveals her own mystical powers of mind control. Nonetheless, she is unable to control her own daughter.
What do you think, can vampires really drink souls? Does it make for a good story?
